AJ Lee didn’t show up at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event, but that didn’t stop Roxanne Perez from calling her out anyway.

Speaking to NotSamWrestling after SummerSlam, Perez turned her attention to one of the biggest names she grew up watching and made it clear she still wants the match. Only this time, she didn’t just praise AJ Lee—she accused her of disappearing because she doesn’t want to share the ring with her.

“AJ Lee? I need my match. Then I can prove I am better than her.”

Perez admitted there was a time when AJ Lee, Bayley and Paige were the women she looked up to. Now, she says she’s left that mindset behind. Then she turned her full attention back to AJ Lee.

“I realized I am actually way better than Bayley, Paige, and all these women at 24 years old. They wish they were as good as me at 24 years old. It’s so weird she just disappeared when Roxanne Perez came back. Where is she? She was here when I left, but when I came back, she went poof.”

Perez wasn’t done. She doubled down by suggesting AJ isn’t staying away because WWE doesn’t want her back—she’s staying away because she knows what would happen if the two ever shared a ring.

“She doesn’t want her legacy to be crushed. She knows I’ll crush her legacy. So, mother, come back. You know you wanna come back. Or maybe she’s scared.”

It’s a very different conversation from the one surrounding AJ last month. Heading into SummerSlam, there was speculation that WWE could potentially slide the former Divas Champion into the Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match after injuries reshuffled the card. That return never happened.

Instead, AJ’s name is back in the conversation for a completely different reason. Roxanne Perez just made it crystal clear that she’s still chasing the match—and judging by the way she delivered the challenge, she isn’t interested in paying tribute to one of her idols anymore: She wants to beat her.
