Ronda Rousey had fun popping up in AEW earlier this year, but she is not looking to join the company on a regular basis.
While speaking to Kay Adams, Rousey was asked about possibly working with AEW after Tony Khan said the door was open for her. Rousey shut down the idea, explaining that the road schedule in pro wrestling would take too much time away from the life she wants now: “No, that life of being on the road is probably more time-consuming than doing training camp at home.”
The Baddest Woman on the Planet then explained why her AEW Revolution appearance worked for her. The show was local, and her best friend Marina Shafir was involved, making it a one-off situation that made sense.
“I had a great time, but it just happened to be in town and my best friend was there. You know what I mean?”
This comes after Tony Khan addressed Rousey’s AEW status during the Double or Nothing media call. Khan said Rousey is always welcome in AEW and made it clear he would be happy to have her compete whenever she is available. Rousey previously explained on her vlog that the AEW Revolution appearance came together because she wanted to support Shafir during her first pay-per-view match and also tie it into her own upcoming fight.
“Marina had her first pay-per-view match, I believe. I asked her, ‘Hey, are you going to be doing these shows while I’m on the way to my fight so I can do a run-in and help you out and put over the fight?’ And she was like, ‘Actually, I’m gonna be at Staples Center doing my first-ever pay-per-view match.’”
The former WWE Superstar admitted the cameo had a rebellious edge because of the TKO connection, but she felt it was easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
“It’s kind of a cool little bit of a f*** you to the TKO Group, which is kind of funny because WWE is on Netflix. But I kind of figured it’d be easier to ask for forgiveness instead of permission on this one. Like, I’m promoting your show. It’s fine. We didn’t advertise it. It’s not like we boosted the ratings, so it should be fine.”
Rousey’s latest comments make it clear that her AEW appearance was about convenience, friendship, and timing — not the start of a full-time wrestling comeback. Tony Khan may be open to using her again, but Rousey does not sound interested in signing up for the road life that comes with pro wrestling. For now, AEW fans should not expect Ronda Rousey to become a regular presence. If she does show up again, it sounds like it would have to fit her schedule and personal life first.
