Richard Holliday missing TNA’s latest television tapings did not go unnoticed—and now people inside the promotion are asking questions about where he is headed next.

Fightful Select stated that Holliday was not at the recent TNA tapings in Boston, which caught several people inside the company by surprise. His absence prompted inquiries, especially with WWE showing internal interest in bringing him aboard.

“Regarding Richard Holliday, it should be noted that we can only confirm internal interest from the company. One source indicated they expected him to be signed. He’s been playing it up on social media to an almost suspicious level. He wasn’t at the Boston TNA tapings, which surprised a number of people at TNA, leading to the inquiries. We do expect him to land in WWE.”

That TNA reaction is the biggest sign yet that Holliday’s status is becoming a real story behind the scenes. He has appeared for the company in the past, so several people expected him to be part of the Boston tapings. When he never showed up, attention immediately shifted toward the ongoing WWE talk.

There is still no confirmation that Holliday has signed a WWE contract. What can be confirmed is that WWE has interest in him, while one source expects the former MLW star to eventually join the company.

Holliday has not exactly tried to shut down the speculation either. His recent social media activity has leaned heavily into the rumors, which has only made his next move look more suspicious.

The speculation intensified after Holliday lost to Bear Bronson at GCW Melee. Instead of simply leaving the ring, Holliday untied his boots, placed them in the center of the canvas, bowed to the crowd and walked away without offering an explanation.

Leaving your boots in the ring usually signals the end of a chapter. Holliday never announced his retirement, leaving fans to wonder whether he was saying goodbye to the independent scene before moving to a larger company.

PWInsider previously stated that people inside WWE believe Holliday is headed to NXT. WWE also had plans to introduce him as part of the WWE ID program during WrestleMania 42 weekend in Las Vegas, but that announcement never happened.

Do you think Richard Holliday skipped the TNA tapings because his WWE move is already taking shape? Let us know what you think and leave your feedback in the comments.
