Ric Flair is clearing up the Wendy Barlow situation after his reunion post blew up online — and according to The Nature Boy, everyone got the wrong idea.
Just one day after Flair celebrated having Wendy back in his life and got roasted over the way he announced it, he returned to social media with a much different message. Flair now says he and Barlow are not restarting their romantic relationship at all. Instead, he says they’re simply renewing a friendship that has lasted more than three decades.
“Wendy and I are not renewing a relationship. We are renewing a 34-year friendship. She has her own residence and I have mine.”
Flair explained that Barlow is coming to Tampa primarily because both of her parents are in their 80s and dealing with health problems. He also made it clear that she’ll continue traveling and doing her own thing while he goes back to public appearances and autograph signings. Flair also pushed back hard on people trying to turn the situation into another messy breakup-and-makeup story.
“She is coming to Tampa primarily to take care of her parents, who are both in their 80s and not in good health. Wendy will continue to do what she does best, travel the world, and help people who are struggling in other countries. I’ll resume what I do and love most, which is attending public events and signing autographs at meet & greets.”
“Please don’t turn something positive into something negative. If that’s all you have to do, find something better to do.”
Flair said Wendy has assured him she’ll be there if he ever becomes seriously ill again, pointing out that her entire family helped care for him during the two years he was sick. Flair ended the clarification by telling critics to move on.
“The one part I am sure of, which she reminds me whenever we speak, is that she will always be there for me if I get sick again, and I was SICK for two years! Her whole family took care of me.”
“Find someone else to hate on! Wendy and I are good.”
So despite Flair’s first post making it sound like The Nature Boy had officially won Wendy back, he’s now drawing a very clear line: they’re close, they’re in each other’s lives, but they are not getting back together romantically.
