Ric Flair says he wasn’t just left out of WrestleMania week — he claims WWE completely ignored a direct request from Dennis Rodman.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Flair revealed that Rodman personally reached out and asked him to handle his WWE Hall of Fame induction. But according to Flair, when he passed that along to WWE, he never even got a response. He framed the situation as part of a larger issue with how things are being handled behind the scenes right now.
“I gotta have problems with politics? Give me a break! I’m not mad at anyone—I understand it’s politics now, but it’s too much politics, not enough wrestling.”
Flair then broke down exactly how the situation played out, making it clear this wasn’t something he pushed for on his own — it came directly from Rodman. He also pointed out that others were brought in for the role, while he was left completely in the dark.
“Did I ask to attend WrestleMania week? No—but Dennis Rodman called me and asked, ‘Will you induct me into the Hall of Fame?’ So I said to the powers that be, ‘Dennis wants me to induct him.’ I never got a call back. Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman did—I never even got a call back! I think it’s a lack of respect. There are so many people under fire right now—they’re all ducking and dodging.”
This adds more context to Rodman’s already talked-about Hall of Fame moment, which drew attention for its unpredictable tone and emotional swings during the ceremony. Now, it turns out there may have been a very different plan in place before WWE made its final call.
So at the end of the day, Ric Flair isn’t just frustrated about missing the moment. He’s calling out what he sees as WWE ignoring both him and Rodman, despite a direct request being made.
With that in mind, do you think WWE should have let Ric Flair handle Rodman’s induction, or was the company right to go in a different direction? Let us know your thoughts.
