Dominik Mysterio and Finn Bálor didn’t just settle their feud at WrestleMania 42 — their match got a major rules change for a very specific reason.
Their Night Two showdown was turned into a Street Fight during the kickoff show, and the change wasn’t random. Fightful Select reports WWE made the call during WrestleMania week after realizing the two-night card had too many standard one-on-one matches.
With most bouts across both nights originally booked as regular singles contests, WWE reportedly wanted to add more variety to the lineup and avoid the show feeling repetitive.
The late switch gave the match a much more chaotic feel, especially with Bálor competing as The Demon. Weapons and table spots quickly became part of the action, turning the bout into one of the more violent matches of the night.
When it was all over, The Demon walked out with the win. Bálor crushed Dominik Mysterio with a Coup De Grace through a table to finish the match and settle their long-running issues.
The match also ended up being the second street fight-style contest of WrestleMania 42 weekend, following Jacob Fatu’s unsanctioned win over Drew McIntyre on Night One.
Do you think WWE made the right call turning this match into a Street Fight, or should it have stayed a standard one-on-one match? Let us know in the comments.
