Liv Morgan walked out of WrestleMania 42 as Women’s World Champion, but new information suggests the real reason her match with Stephanie Vaquer was short had nothing to do with injuries.

Morgan defeated Vaquer in Las Vegas to reclaim the title in a fast-paced match that wrapped up quicker than many fans expected. The bout still featured major moments, including interference from Roxanne Perez and Morgan sealing the win after sending Vaquer into the steel steps before delivering her finisher.

An earlier report claimed that both Morgan and Vaquer were dealing with injuries heading into WrestleMania, leading to speculation that WWE shortened the match to protect both competitors. However, a new update paints a very different picture.

During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sapp addressed fan concerns about multiple women’s matches running shorter than expected. He explained that the issue wasn’t tied to injuries or talent performance, but instead came down to strict production timing on the show. Sapp pointed out that Morgan wrestled a longer match shortly after WrestleMania, which suggested the short runtime wasn’t about protecting her physically.

"I don't believe that they made Liv Stephanie wrestle for seven minutes just to have Liv and Sol for 12. It wasn't cause, like, it wasn't for the reason that was put out there, based on what I heard, because again, Liv did wrestle for 12 minutes after that."

He continued by explaining that despite speculation about backstage reasoning, the reality appeared much simpler — everyone involved was working within fixed time limits.

"I'm sure somebody claimed that in WWE, but Liv was wrestling 12 minutes. I'm sure she would have rather had that 12 minutes on WrestleMania. Nobody told me outside of that. Those were the time constraints they were all given. And that's lame. Lame."

This update makes it clear that scheduling — not injuries — was the key factor behind the shorter match time. While Morgan still had a huge WrestleMania moment by reclaiming the championship and even performing her own entrance music live, the limited runtime now appears to have been the result of tight show formatting rather than health concerns.

Do you think WWE made the right call sticking to strict time limits, or should Liv Morgan and Stephanie Vaquer have been given more time at WrestleMania? Let us know your thoughts and share your feedback in the comments.
