Cruz Montana showing up out of nowhere to help The 946 wreck Roman Reigns was already a pretty wild way to make a first impression on RAW. Now, there’s a little more to the story of how Montana apparently ended up in the group in the first place.
According to False Finish, Royce Keys was the one who brought Montana into The 946. The decision to add the NXT star was specifically described as a “Royce Keys decision.” Keys has done this before since Carmelo Hayes joining The 946 was also his call, making it look like Keys has some serious pull when it comes to deciding who gets brought into the crew.
Montana certainly didn’t waste his opportunity after getting the call. He showed up during Keys’ match against Solo Sikoa on the November 2 episode of RAW, initially hiding his identity behind a mask while The 946 and The Bloodline descended into chaos.
Then came the big reveal. Montana threw a steel chair at Roman Reigns to stop a Spear, took off the mask and immediately started beating down the WWE World Heavyweight Champion while the rest of The 946 handled The Bloodline.
That’s one hell of a way to introduce somebody Keys reportedly handpicked. There was no slow introduction or weeks of teasing — Montana’s first order of business was helping put Reigns and his family down.
Montana now has the unenviable task of proving Keys made the right call. Going after Roman Reigns on his very first night certainly got everyone’s attention, but after an introduction that big, WWE has set the bar pretty damn high for whatever comes next.
