Alexa Bliss wasn’t able to make it back in time for SummerSlam, but she might not be waiting much longer, because Little Miss Bliss was just spotted backstage at tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
Just hours before WWE went live from Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena, a fan outside the venue snapped photos of Bliss arriving alongside her husband, Ryan Cabrera, confirming that the former Women’s Champion is in the building for tonight’s show.
The timing is definitely hard to ignore. Jade Cargill is set to face Charlotte Flair later tonight, giving WWE the perfect opening if the company wants Bliss to finally come back and confront the woman who took her out just weeks ago.
Last month, Cargill trapped Bliss’ arm inside a steel chair after their match on SmackDown. Bliss later revealed the attack left her dealing with a possible bone chip and an overstretched ligament in her elbow, an injury that ultimately kept her off the SummerSlam card.
Of course, simply being backstage doesn’t guarantee Bliss will appear on television. She could just as easily be visiting or meeting with WWE officials ahead of the show.
Bottom line: SummerSlam is in the rearview mirror, new feuds are about to take shape, and Alexa Bliss is now backstage on the same night Jade Cargill is already booked to wrestle. If WWE has been waiting for the right moment to bring Bliss back, it’s hard to find a much better one than this.
