Alexa Bliss finally knows what’s wrong with her elbow—but whether she’ll make it back for SummerSlam is still anyone’s guess.
Speaking to ESPN, Bliss opened up about the injury she suffered during Jade Cargill’s brutal attack, revealing that what looked like a storyline beat has left her dealing with a potentially chipped bone and an overstretched ligament.
According to Bliss, everything started when Cargill bent her arm backwards with a steel chair. Bliss joked that her elbows naturally hyperextend, but this time things went well beyond that. She then explained what doctors believe the damage actually is.
“Jade got me. Um, she bent my elbow backwards with a chair. Which is fine ’cause I have bendy elbows, but it went a little too far. And then when she slammed the chair, it just completely…I think there’s like a bone chip in here. And then this ligament right here is a little over… overstretched. Uh, I mean sore, but it’s more the inconvenience of how bulky this thing is. It’s keeping it in place. It’s healing fast and I’m hoping that, you know, just a couple weeks and then we’re good.”
That recovery timeline could put SummerSlam within reach—but Bliss isn’t making any promises. Asked whether fans should expect to see her at WWE’s biggest show of the summer, Bliss admitted she genuinely doesn’t know yet because everything depends on how her elbow heals and what WWE decides creatively.
“I don’t know. It just depends on my elbow and what… and what the plan is. You know, we don’t know really what the plan is for SummerSlam… but I know that whatever it is, I know at least Charlotte will be ready.”
Earlier this week, reports suggested Bliss wasn’t currently part of WWE’s SummerSlam plans, with her elbow injury believed to be the biggest reason. Bliss hasn’t confirmed she’s out, but she has now made one thing clear: her return will depend entirely on whether her elbow is ready in time.
