Kevin Owens may not have actually suffered an injury at WWE’s live event in North Charleston after all. Despite footage showing Owens limping and being helped backstage, some WWE talent believe he was simply selling.
According to PWInsider, there still isn’t a definitive answer regarding Owens’ condition following the August 30 show. However, some talent within WWE came away believing the apparent injury was part of Owens selling the effects of his match instead of a legitimate issue.
That would certainly be good news considering how concerning the footage initially looked. Sports journalist Kevin Bilodeau captured Owens being helped toward the back at the North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center. Owens was visibly limping, leading Bilodeau to describe what happened as an apparent knee injury.
“Kevin Owens had to be helped to the back after suffering an apparent knee injury at #WWECharleston.”
The footage itself never showed exactly what happened to Owens or confirmed that he had suffered an injury. WWE also hasn’t announced anything regarding his condition. There was naturally more concern because Owens only recently returned to the ring. He had been sidelined since early 2025 due to a neck injury and subsequent surgery before finally making his comeback at SummerSlam.
So for now, there’s still no official word on the Prizefighter’s status, but the belief among some talent that he was simply selling makes the situation look considerably less worrying than it initially did.
