Cody Rhodes just gave fans a positive sign after his WrestleMania 42 injury — and it sounds like things could’ve been a lot worse.

With concern about his swollen left eye and his status for Backlash still uncertain, Rhodes took to his Instagram story and shared an update straight from his doctor’s visit — one that, oddly enough, came with some reassurance.

Before posting the line, Rhodes had been dealing with fears of a possible fracture and lingering effects from the brutal match with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42. Now, his own words suggest that while the injury is serious, it’s not the worst-case scenario.

"You won’t lose the eye…” has to be the most positive yet absurd thing I’ve ever heard in a doctors office."

The way he got injured is still somewhat unclear, with speculation ranging from a direct punch by Randy Orton during a late-match exchange to possible accidental contact during the Cody Cutter into RKO sequence.

So in the end, if doctors are talking about not losing an eye, that shows how serious it looked at first. At the same time, Rhodes’ response gives some level of relief, even if the final call on Backlash hasn’t been made yet.
