WrestleMania 43 heading to Saudi Arabia wasn’t the original plan — and a new update just confirmed where WWE almost took the show instead.
Andrew Baydala took to Twitter and revealed that Nashville tourism officials and the Tennessee Titans announced that WrestleMania 43 was initially set for Nashville at the new Nissan Stadium in 2027. That plan ultimately fell through, and the reason came down to timing issues tied to the venue.
"Today, the Nashville tourism groups & Tennessee Titans announced that #WrestleMania 43 was originally scheduled to be held in Nashville at the new Nissan Stadium in 2027. The reason given for why it is not taking place in Nashville was "the date didn't work out, and we are looking at future years."
The new Nissan Stadium is still under construction and is scheduled to be completed in February 2027 — leaving a tight window for WWE to lock in WrestleMania logistics for that same year. With the timeline not aligning, WWE pivoted, leading to the now-confirmed decision to take WrestleMania overseas.
This also changes the narrative around WWE’s decision to move WrestleMania 43 to Riyadh. While WWE President Nick Khan previously framed the move as part of the company’s global expansion and ongoing partnership with Saudi Arabia, Nashville was clearly still in the mix until timing became an issue. So, this wasn’t just WWE choosing Saudi Arabia over a U.S. location. Nashville was on the board, but the stadium simply wasn’t ready in time to make it work.
With Nashville now being pushed to a future WrestleMania, do you think WWE made the right call moving forward with Saudi Arabia, or should they have waited to keep the event in the U.S.? Let us know your thoughts.
