Nikki Bella may not be actively looking for a relationship right now, but she admits that being single at 42 still comes with moments of self-doubt.
Speaking on The Nikki and Brie Show, the WWE Hall of Famer got brutally honest about dating, revealing that she sometimes catches herself worrying about her appearance and wondering how a future partner might see her.
“I get, I feel guilty of it at times because I think, you know, I’m here. I’m single, 42 and I focus on some things or I can tend to be insecure about some things because I am single at this age. And so when I think about dating or I, you know, put myself like, oh, but do I look good enough here? Will I be comfortable enough naked? Or what if he thinks of this or that?”
Nikki admitted those thoughts can creep in, but she also knows she has to shut them down before they take over. Instead of letting those insecurities win, she reminds herself that the right person will want her for exactly who she is.
“It’s so wild how I have to, like, talk to myself like, no, no, no, someone will appreciate you because it’s one thing when you’re growing old with someone, they appreciate those things, but I’m not growing old with someone right now.”
The WWE Hall of Famer also pointed to the pressure women face as they get older, saying it’s easy to get caught up in how the world constantly judges aging.
“That’s why I have to, like, watch that every day, too, for myself, even at this age, being single, because of what we can fall into, because of how the world makes us feel. Right? Exactly. Look at her. She’s getting older. She’s looking older. It’s like, yeah, no s***.”
Those comments hit a little differently because just a couple of months ago, Nikki insisted dating wasn’t even on her radar. Speaking to Boardroom back in May, she said all of her energy was going into growing Madam Paleta across the United States before eventually expanding worldwide and not going after a man.
So while Nikki still isn’t putting dating at the top of her priority list, her latest comments show there’s another side to the story. She may be focused on business and motherhood, but she’s also willing to admit that being single at 42 brings insecurities she has to work through just like anyone else.
