Brie Bella’s road back to WWE is turning into a frustrating ordeal, and Nikki Bella has revealed that her sister is struggling with the restrictions that come with her broken scapula. While Brie continues making progress in physical therapy, she’s still unable to work out normally, and the lengthy recovery process is taking its toll.
During an interview with SportsRadio 94WIP, Nikki was asked how Brie was doing after suffering a serious shoulder injury at WWE SummerSlam 2026. Brie has been sidelined since August 1, when she suffered multiple fractures in her scapula during a six-woman tag team match. Nikki explained that Brie’s recovery has been slow because she didn’t undergo surgery. Instead, her sister has been relying on physical therapy and waiting for the fractured bones to heal naturally.
“It’s, you know, slow process cuz she didn’t have surgery, but she couldn’t wear the location of the breaks were. Um but she’s doing well. She’s in PT a few days a week. So it’s kind of one of those things that you’re just waiting for those bones to heal.”
Nikki went on to reveal that Brie was preparing for another X-ray to determine how much progress her bones had made. However, one of the biggest problems has been Brie’s inability to maintain her usual workout routine, something that has left her increasingly frustrated.
“And it’s like I think she gets another x-ray here soon to see like more of the growth. But she’s so frustrated cuz when it’s the scapula like she can’t work out at all right now. So that’s like that’s been really tough on her.”
The latest comments come after Brie previously received disappointing news about her recovery. As Ringside News covered on October 9, Brie revealed that her fractured bones had not yet fused following another CT scan. Despite that setback, she remained optimistic about the healing process.
The injury initially raised concerns that Brie would require emergency surgery. However, doctors ultimately determined that surgery wasn’t necessary, leaving her with an estimated recovery period of three to six months.
Brie has already explained that even if her bones heal properly, returning to WWE won’t happen overnight. During an earlier episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, she revealed that physical therapy was still focused on basic exercises to strengthen the muscles surrounding her scapula. She also admitted she had been unable to resume her normal cardio routine.
The injury has become an even bigger concern because Brie and Nikki are approaching the final stages of their WWE careers. Nikki recently admitted that she doesn’t believe another singles match against Brie will happen because of their injuries and the limited time they have left in the ring.
For now, Brie is stuck doing something that doesn’t come naturally to a professional wrestler who has spent years training and competing — waiting. Nikki’s latest comments make it clear that while her sister is working toward a comeback, the physical restrictions and uncertainty surrounding her recovery are becoming increasingly difficult to handle.
How do you think WWE should handle Brie Bella’s return once she’s medically cleared, and should she take additional time away to make sure she’s fully recovered? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
