Brie Bella is finally entering the next stage of her recovery, but fans hoping she’ll be back in a WWE ring anytime soon may have to keep waiting. The WWE Hall of Famer shared her biggest update yet on her broken scapula, explaining exactly where things stand after undergoing a new CT scan.
Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie revealed she’d just returned from getting a CT scan on her injured shoulder. Naturally, she tried to get answers right away, but the doctors wouldn’t tell her anything because the results first had to be sent to WWE.
“I thought today would be a really fun day to talk about, you know, an update with my shoulder. So I actually just got back from my CT scan right now. I tried to get information out of the doctor, but they’re like, ‘No, we have to send this to WWE and then they’ll let you know.’
So you might know something by the end of today or first thing next week. So fingers crossed that, you know, all is good.”
Brie admitted the visit left her feeling a little uneasy because the doctor wouldn’t even tell her whether the fractures had fully fused. Even though she feels stronger than she did a few weeks ago, she’s still dealing with pain during normal activities and remains under strict restrictions.
“I did get nervous… I was like, ‘It’s because my bones fused?’ But he’s like, ‘No, I don’t know.’ So he wouldn’t tell me anything. But I’m feeling strong, I’m feeling good. I’m still not cleared to do any, you know, the exercises I would like to do.
There is times where I will go to shut a window and I get really bad spasms or sharp pains. I’m still really cautious about picking up things that aren’t heavier than five pounds… I’m not cleared to pick up anything heavier than five pounds.”
Right now, most of her recovery revolves around physical therapy. Brie said she’s going three times a week, with the focus still being on rebuilding the muscles around her scapula before she can even think about returning to normal training.
“As of right now, I’m still just in physical therapy three days a week doing, for someone like myself, the most basic type of exercises. But really what we’re trying to do is strengthen the muscles around the scapula.”
Brie also made it clear that even if the CT scan comes back with good news, it doesn’t mean she’ll immediately be cleared to wrestle. Instead, it simply allows her to move into the next phase of rehab, which includes weights, more movement and eventually cardio.
“Even if my bones have fused, it doesn’t mean I get to go back yet. It’s a very long process when it comes to shoulder scapula stuff. It just means I get to take the next step to rehabbing.”
The WWE Hall of Famer revealed just how much the injury has limited her by explaining that she hasn’t even been able to run since getting hurt.
“You guys, I have not been able to do cardio. I’m a cardio queen, and so I haven’t even been able to run since this injury.”
As for returning to WWE, Brie said fans shouldn’t expect to see her back in the ring anytime soon. She wants to make sure every step of the recovery is complete before she even thinks about wrestling again.
“So I still think my days to be in-ring are still far, unfortunately. I am not the type of girl anymore who’s gonna rush things. I want all of it out before I make that comeback.”
Looking back, Brie admitted the injury initially devastated her because she felt she had momentum in WWE and already knew where her story was heading. Over time, though, she’s come to see the setback differently and now views it as a reminder not to take her health for granted.
“At first I was super bummed out because I had so much momentum and I knew where I was going… But at the same time I was like, I kind of needed this to just, one, remember how important my health is.”
The update also provides more context to what Nikki Bella recently said about Brie’s comeback. Nikki previously revealed that WWE hasn’t even begun discussing a return timeline internally, although she admitted everyone is hoping the 2027 Royal Rumble could become a realistic target if Brie’s recovery continues moving in the right direction
Bottom line: Brie’s focus isn’t on rushing back to WWE—it’s on making sure she’s 100 percent before she steps into a ring again. The CT scan may determine the next phase of her rehab, but as she made clear herself, there’s still plenty of work to do before fans see her make that comeback.
Do you think Brie Bella should wait until she’s completely healthy before returning, even if it means missing major WWE events? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
