Zilla Fatu just got a pretty sweet welcome to the John Cena Classic, and WWE made sure his invitation came with more than just a spot in the tournament. The rising wrestling star received a special briefcase loaded with exclusive gifts, along with two mysterious coins that apparently serve a bigger purpose.
John Cena announced during Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT that Fatu was the second wrestler invited to compete in the John Cena Classic. Fatu also became the first NXT talent selected for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place on December 14 at Disney World.
Following the announcement, Fatu took to his YouTube vlog to show off the special package WWE sent him. The first items he revealed were two custom coins featuring sayings and mantras associated with John Cena. However, there’s a catch. The coins apparently have a specific purpose connected to the tournament, but Fatu wasn’t giving away the details. He also received a sealed letter explaining what the coins could be used for, although he chose not to read its contents on camera.
And that wasn’t even the best part. Fatu also opened a special John Cena Classic briefcase packed with merchandise. Inside was a Rise Above Hate jacket, a watch, custom John Cena Classic playing cards, and a book that appeared to explain the meaning behind the gifts.
The whole presentation made it clear that WWE is putting some extra effort into making the John Cena Classic feel like a special occasion. With the mysterious coins and personalized gifts, there’s already some intrigue surrounding what the competitors might encounter when the tournament begins.
Fatu joins Cody Rhodes as the only two competitors announced for the event so far. With more invitations expected and the mystery surrounding the coins still unanswered, there could be plenty more surprises before December 14.
For Zilla Fatu, getting invited to compete in a tournament carrying John Cena’s name is already a major opportunity. Now he’s got a briefcase full of exclusive merchandise to go along with it, and those two coins could turn out to be more important than anyone realizes.
