MJF clearly is not thrilled about Mick Foley officially debuting in AEW and he made his feelings clear with a tweet.
After reports surfaced claiming AEW had legitimate interest in working with the WWE Hall of Famer, Tony Khan confirmed that Foley will appear during AEW Double or Nothing 2026 weekend programming. Foley is set to co-host the Buy In pre-show alongside Renee Paquette before also appearing on Wednesday Night Dynamite. Khan announced the news on Twitter while referencing Foley’s WCW legacy as Cactus Jack.
“Your new co-hosts are @ReneePaquette & Mick Foley! Foley’s coming back to TBS, where he ran wild as Cactus Jack!”
Shortly after the announcement went public, MJF took to Twitter himself and reacted in the most MJF way possible: “…..great.” That short response came after MJF had already unloaded on Foley during a recent interview with Jon Alba while discussing the possibility of the hardcore legend showing up in AEW. When Foley’s name came up, MJF buried him immediately while also taking a shot at Darby Allin.
“I think Mick Foley is fat and he’s ugly, and I think he was the blueprint of what Darby Allin is now, which makes me hate him even more. That’s what I think of Mick Foley.”
The comments stand out even more considering Foley and MJF had previously discussed potentially working together on-screen in AEW. Foley even admitted in past interviews that MJF once pitched him a storyline compelling enough that it nearly convinced him to return for one last match.
Now, with Foley officially entering AEW programming for the first time ever, MJF is already making it very clear that he is not exactly welcoming the WWE Hall of Famer with open arms.
Whether the social media reaction eventually turns into an on-screen angle remains to be seen, but MJF has already added extra intrigue to Foley’s AEW debut before it even happens.
Do you think AEW should eventually turn the MJF and Mick Foley tension into a full storyline, or should Foley stay in a non-wrestling role only? Sound off in the comments.
