Mick Foley is officially in the AEW mix, and he’s not acting like this was some random stop on the wrestling map.

While speaking with Going Ringside, Foley was asked about showing up in AEW, which is based out of Jacksonville, Florida. Foley made it clear that the move felt right because he already had respect for the company and a long-standing connection with Tony Khan.

“I’d admired the show. I’d loved the show. I knew Tony Khan from way back and they had a spot on their roster for me and it felt like a great fit and I’m happy to be there.”

That’s a pretty simple answer from Foley. AEW had a role for him, Tony Khan already had a relationship with him, and Foley liked what he saw from the product. Foley also praised Khan’s energy behind the scenes, saying it stood out compared to what he experienced elsewhere.

“It’s really fun for me just to watch how much Tony loves it. I’m not gonna knock the other organization, but let’s just say when you came through the curtain, it was a different type of experience.”

Foley’s jump to AEW comes after his WWE Legends deal expired, and it instantly got fans talking because of his history with WWE and his public issues with the company’s political connections.

Now, Foley is with AEW, and it sounds like he’s enjoying the fresh start. Whether this turns into a regular role or something bigger remains to be seen, but Foley clearly didn’t walk into AEW by accident.
