Mercedes Moné finally has the one thing that somehow managed to follow her around for years: a five-star rating from Dave Meltzer. Her AEW Women’s World Title win over Willow Nightingale at All In officially earned the honor, but Mercedes doesn’t sound like she needed Meltzer to tell her she was having five-star matches.
Meltzer awarded Moné and Nightingale’s All In match five stars in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The rating marks the first time in Moné’s career that one of her matches has received a full five stars from Meltzer.
It didn’t take long for fans to make sure Mercedes knew about it. One fan took to Twitter after the rating came out and celebrated Moné finally breaking through the five-star barrier.
“YOU A 5 STAR BITCHHHH”
Mercedes had a pretty simple response. As far as she’s concerned, the five-star performances started long before Meltzer finally put the number next to one of her matches.

The timing makes the response even funnier considering Mercedes’ recent history with Meltzer’s ratings. Earlier this year, Meltzer didn’t initially rate Moné’s Forbidden Door match against Maya World despite giving ratings to the other matches on the card. He explained that the reaction he experienced live differed from what people watching on television seemed to think, so he wanted to watch the match again before settling on a rating.
Mercedes eventually jumped into the conversation herself by tagging Meltzer with a “Well… we’re waiting” GIF, which led to plenty of fans accusing her of caring too much about getting his approval. Maya later pushed back on how seriously people took the whole thing. She said neither she nor Mercedes needed Meltzer’s rating to validate the match and even thought leaving it unrated made him look a little strange.
“I don’t care. And it’s like everybody else could joke about it online, but I can’t joke about it. They’re like, ‘Why do y’all even care that he’s not rating it?’ I’m like, ‘We can’t just have, like, a little silly, silly goofy moment? Like, we can’t just laugh about it?’”
“But no, it just makes him kind of look crazy. And I’m going to leave it at that.”
Now the AEW Women’s World Champion doesn’t have to wait for that elusive five-star rating anymore. Meltzer finally gave her one after All In, and her reaction makes it really clear she considers him a little late to the party.
