Maya World used her trip to Globe Life Field to put Britt Baker and Persephone on notice. The former AEW TBS Champion called out both women while preparing to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Texas Rangers game.
World made the special appearance on Tuesday, just days after losing the TBS Championship at AEW All In: London. Persephone captured the title after the returning Baker interfered in the match. Baker initially appeared under a mask before revealing her identity once Persephone secured the victory. Baker wasn’t finished after the bell. She put World in the Lockjaw before aligning with Persephone later that night at Wembley Stadium.
World arrived back in Texas ready to throw the first pitch, but she made it clear that what happened in London was still on her mind. She first promoted AEW Dynamite and Collision in Allen, Texas, before turning her attention to Persephone and Baker.
“What’s up, guys? It’s the It Girl, Maya World, here at the home of the Texas Rangers, Globe Life Field, and I am throwing out the first pitch tonight—straight off a plane from London and All In. We will be in Allen, Texas, on Wednesday for Dynamite and Collision, so I better see y’all there.”
World admitted she was nervous about taking the mound and thanked the Rangers for inviting her. She then accused Persephone of being afraid to defend the TBS Championship against her without help.
“I’m feeling excited. I’m a little nervous, so I hope I get the practice. Thank you, Texas Rangers, for having me throw out the first pitch tonight. But, of course, I haven’t forgotten about you, Persephone, and my TBS Championship. I see you’re scared to face me one-on-one because you have never beaten me one-on-one.”
World saved her final warning for Baker, telling the former AEW Women’s World Champion to stop hiding and confront her directly.
“And Britt Baker, maybe once you’re done hiding under a mask, you can meet the It Girl face-to-face.”
World may no longer have the TBS Championship, but she clearly isn’t walking away from the fight. With Baker and Persephone now working together, she could have to go through both women to get her hands back on the title.
