Matt Hardy is absolutely tired of the complaints about The Hardys’ feud with The Righteous going too long.
The rivalry has been going since December 2025, and the latest chapter saw The Righteous defeat The Hardys in a Wicked Garden match. While some have argued the story has gone on too long, Hardy pushed back hard on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, saying the feud has constantly changed instead of staying in one place.
“This is absurd. I think it’s absurd. Because TNA is very limited in the amount of talents we have, so we have to stretch things out. Our feud has changed from when it started.”
Hardy explained that the rivalry has moved through several phases, including The Righteous fighting The Hardys, trying to befriend them, joining forces with them, and eventually betraying them. He also admitted that since much of the story comes from his own blueprint, he is naturally going to defend it, but he argued that the feud has had enough turns to justify its length.
“And it has changed and evolved the whole while, and that is what pro wrestling is. A lot of this is my blueprint and outline, so I probably will defend it. But yes, it has changed, it has evolved, there has been twists and turns.”
Matt then broke down the bigger story behind The Righteous’ actions, saying their real motivation was not just to beat The Hardys but to pull the magic of the Broken Universe back out of them. According to Hardy, that goal has already worked because the feud helped bring back Broken Matt, Brother Nero, and Willow.
“They’re very cultish, right? So they want to bring out the magic of the Broken Universe. So they did everything in their power to do that, and not only did they bring back Broken Matt, they brought back Brother Nero, they brought back Willow. So they have accomplished their goal.”
Matt Hardy also made it clear the feud is not meant to drag on forever. He said the next stage is already planned, and the story is heading toward a final payoff within the next month or so: “Following that match, about the next month or so following that, we’re going to climax this thing and we’re going to wrap it up and it is going to be epic when it’s all said and done.”
So, while some fans may feel The Hardys vs. The Righteous has lasted too long, Matt Hardy sees it as a story that needed time because of TNA’s roster limits and the supernatural direction of the Broken Universe. With Hardy now saying the feud is close to wrapping up, the next few weeks should reveal whether the payoff matches the build.
