Matt Cardona just had surgery, tore his triceps and got slapped with a recovery timetable — and he’s already talking about beating it. Cardona isn’t planning on sitting at home any longer than necessary, and he even threw out the Royal Rumble as a possible target for his WWE comeback.

Cardona gave the update while speaking to Katie Nolan alongside Chelsea Green,. The injury came up near the end of the conversation when Nolan wished him well during his recovery. Cardona suffered the torn triceps after finally making his way back into WWE, bringing his momentum to a screeching halt just as his comeback was picking up steam. Ringside News previously covered Cardona revealing the torn triceps injury, as well as the surgery he underwent days later.

Cardona has also shown fans the exact moment things went wrong, with footage revealing where he tore his triceps during the match. He kept going after the injury, but surgery eventually became unavoidable. Now Cardona is already looking at the calendar instead of the couch.

“Yeah, the plan is to be back shorter than the surgeons say. Maybe come back to the Royal Rumble. Who knows?”

Nolan immediately asked when the Royal Rumble would take place, and Cardona made it clear that he believes there’s still enough time to make something happen.

“That’s February this year. So, I got some time.”

That wasn’t the only thing Cardona had to say about the injury. When Nolan asked exactly what he tore, Cardona confirmed it was his triceps before blaming the whole mess on having too much muscle packed onto his arm.

“It’s a tricep. Yeah. I was just too muscular that it just ripped right off my elbow.”

Cardona may have laughed about it, but the timing was no joke. He spent years grinding his way back to WWE only to get hit with a major injury almost immediately after finally getting another shot. The good news for Cardona is that he isn’t talking like someone resigned to a long layoff. He’s already staring down the surgeon’s timetable and thinking about beating it, with the Royal Rumble now sitting there as one hell of a comeback target.

Do you think Matt Cardona can recover fast enough to make a Royal Rumble return, or is that timeline too aggressive? Let us know what you think and leave your feedback in the comments.
