Matt Cardona wasn’t interested in hearing what Cagematch had to say about Dominik Mysterio’s SummerSlam match. The problem? Wrestling fans had no trouble reminding him that he once celebrated those exact same ratings when they were working in his favor.

With Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio sitting at a 1.50 rating on Cagematch, Cardona jumped onto Twitter with a blunt reaction.

“Who gives a s*** about cage match?”

That post barely had time to breathe before WrestleFeatures pulled out a receipt from 2023. Back then, Cardona sounded a lot different when his own match against Joshua Bishop was climbing the Cagematch rankings.

“Holy f****** s***. Cardona vs. @JoshuaBishop_ is currently rated 9.99 on Cagematch. To say that people LOVED this @aiwrestling show would be an understatement.”

The comparison spread quickly, with plenty of fans accusing Cardona of loving Cagematch when it was praising him and dismissing it when the focus went to WWE’s latest controversy. Cardona wasn’t having it. Instead of backing off, he doubled down and insisted everyone completely missed what he meant.

“You thought that was a serious tweet? lol wow.”

That explanation didn’t exactly slow things down. Fans kept the screenshots coming, the replies kept piling up, and what started as a comment about Dominik Mysterio’s Cagematch score quickly turned into a debate over Cardona’s own history with the site. Whether people believed he was joking or not, the old tweet ended up getting all the attention.

What do you think? Was Matt Cardona obviously joking, or did fans have every right to call him out over the old Cagematch post? Let us know in the comments below.
