Triple H’s role in WWE’s latest wave of releases is now coming into focus — and according to new details, he’s the one making the calls.

Following the April 24, 2026 cuts that saw roughly 25 WWE stars let go—including Aleister Black, Bo Dallas, and Kairi Sane—there’s been growing speculation about whether these decisions were driven by corporate leadership under TKO Group Holdings or internally within WWE itself.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, that speculation may be misplaced. Meltzer addressed the narrative directly, explaining that the decision-making power doesn’t sit with higher-level executives like Ari Emanuel, and may not even fully rest with WWE President Nick Khan when it comes to specific talent cuts.

“Nobody above Levesque is saying who to cut. Maybe [WWE President] Nick Khan, maybe not. Ari Emanuel isn’t sitting there saying we have to fire Zelina [Vega] and Kairi. By and large the decision maker, for good or for bad, here is Paul. It’s like in other years where people blamed this person or that person when the decision was 100 percent Vince [McMahon].”

Meltzer didn’t stop there. He went deeper into how WWE’s internal structure likely operates, suggesting that while there could be financial oversight from the corporate side, the actual talent decisions still come down to Levesque—similar to how things functioned during the Vince McMahon era.

“There’s not a chance TKO is ordering who to cut. It is possible they’ve got an unofficial salary cap and Levesque as the manager has to keep the number below that. Most likely the salary total would be a Khan decision, and as far as the key in the personnel decision, that’s Levesque although Khan having input and others having input is likely. It’s like Vince would consult with a few people but at the end, it was Vince’s call, not evil Jim Ross or evil Johnny Ace or evil JJ Dillon.”

The takeaway here is clear: while multiple voices may be involved in discussions, Meltzer’s reporting paints a picture where Triple H ultimately holds the final say on roster decisions. That puts him in a position very similar to Vince McMahon in previous years—where consultation happens, but accountability lands with one person.

With backlash already building over the scale of these releases, this update reframes the entire situation. Instead of pointing at corporate ownership, the focus now shifts to WWE’s creative and talent leadership—and how those decisions shape the company moving forward.

Do you think Triple H having full control over roster cuts is the right approach, or should WWE’s decision-making be more collaborative at this level? Let me know your thoughts.
