Lola Vice just threw a grenade into the WWE rumor mill without typing a single word.
The NXT star posted a photo of her wrestling gear, boots and bags dumped across the floor shortly after AAA Verano de Escándalo. No caption. No explanation. Nothing but the mess. That was all fans needed.
Vice had just walked into the event as one-half of the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions alongside Mr. Iguana. She walked out empty-handed after La Hiedra pinned her to win the titles with Laredo Kid.
Then came the photo. The gear scattered across the floor could simply be the aftermath of a rough night. It could also be Vice signaling that she is packing up and moving on to something much bigger. That is where the SmackDown talk enters the picture. Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer claimed that Vice has been called up from NXT and is expected to join the Friday Night SmackDown roster.
Vice dropping the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship would clear one major obstacle before a main roster move. Instead of leaving an active champion behind, she can close the door on AAA and walk into SmackDown with a clean slate.
WWE has considered moving Vice up before. She was close to joining an earlier wave of NXT call-ups, but the company decided to keep her around a little longer. Vice never doubted that her shot was coming.
There is still one piece of business left in NXT. Vice is scheduled to challenge Kendal Grey for the NXT Women’s Championship in an NXT Underground Match on August 4. That match could be her last fight before Friday nights become her new home. WWE has not made the call-up official, but the title loss, the SmackDown claim and that captionless gear photo all landed within the same window.
Lola Vice did not say goodbye. She did not confirm a move. She simply showed fans the gear on the floor and walked away from the post—and sometimes that says more than a paragraph ever could.
