Lizzy Rain may have made a strong first impression on WWE NXT, but behind the scenes, her debut came together way faster than anyone realized.

After making her in-ring debut and picking up a win over Nikkita Lyons on the April 28 episode of NXT, Rain has now explained how quickly everything came together behind the scenes, and it wasn’t part of some long-term rollout.

Speaking on Busted Open After Dark on April 29, Rain detailed the moment she first realized something big was happening, explaining that it all started with an unexpected message during WrestleMania weekend.

“They threw me in the deep end. I got a text during WrestleMania saying, ‘You’re filming this vignette for NXT,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, okay—really? Okay!’ I didn’t know this was happening this fast—I just did my dark match last week. So yeah, it all just happened in a flash.”

That wasn’t the only surprise. Rain went on to explain that she didn’t even know she’d be wrestling until she saw the script for her own vignette, meaning her debut match was essentially revealed to her in real time.

“When I was reading the vignette, and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m debuting next week—awesome.’ So I knew for one week. I found out I was doing a vignette on Saturday night during the main event of WrestleMania. I get a text message: ‘You’re doing a vignette on Monday.’ I was like, ‘Oh, okay!’ So I found that out on Monday, and when I read what I was gonna be saying, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m wrestling next Tuesday—awesome.’”

That timeline makes it clear that Rain went from a recent dark match to a full televised debut in a matter of days, with barely any time to process what was happening. Despite that, she still delivered in the ring, showing off her heavy metal-inspired character and finishing Lyons with her “Thunderstruck” finisher to pick up the win.

This changes the narrative around her debut completely. What looked like a planned introduction was actually a rapid decision that came together over the course of WrestleMania weekend.

Do you think Lizzy Rain being thrown into her debut like that helped her stand out, or should WWE have built her up more before putting her on TV? Let me know your thoughts.
