Liv Morgan is not taking her WWE Women’s World Championship loss quietly — she’s already slapped a name on the whole mess, and Becky Lynch probably isn’t going to love it.
Morgan broke her silence on September 14 after losing the title to Stephanie Vaquer at WWE’s September 12 live event in Santiago, Chile, calling what happened one of the biggest disasters wrestling has ever seen.
“The greatest tragedy in the history of wrestling .. The Santiago screwjob 🖕”
Yeah, Liv went straight for the “screwjob” label. And considering how the match ended, she’s got plenty of ammunition for it. Morgan appeared to have Vaquer beaten after connecting with Oblivion and making the cover. Becky Lynch, who was serving as special guest referee, started counting — and then suddenly stopped at two before flipping Morgan off instead of finishing the three-count.
That completely blew the match open. Vaquer jumped on the chaos, hit the SVB and followed it with the Vaquer Inferno to put Morgan away and win the WWE Women’s World Championship in front of her home-country crowd.
The title change ended Morgan’s reign at 148 days after two successful defenses, including a victory over Vaquer on the September 7 episode of WWE RAW. Vaquer is now a two-time Women’s World Champion, but Liv clearly isn’t buying this as some clean changing of the guard.
She’s branding it as the “Santiago screwjob,” and with Becky literally stopping what looked like a winning pin before giving Liv the middle finger, that nickname probably isn’t disappearing anytime soon.
Morgan may have lost the belt in Chile, but she’s already making damn sure the story isn’t just about Stephanie Vaquer becoming champion. Becky Lynch is right in the middle of this thing now, and Liv sounds ready to make somebody pay for it.
