Last-Minute Segment Added to May 1 WWE SmackDown

Sami Zayn is stepping back into the spotlight on Friday night, and this time he’ll be answering for one of the strangest attacks seen on WWE television in recent memory.

WWE confirmed that Zayn will appear on SmackDown to address what happened last week, when he showed up disguised as the Gingerbread Man and blindsided WWE United States Champion Trick Williams during his celebration. Rapper Lil Yachty was also caught up in the chaos as the moment quickly spiraled into one of the wildest scenes coming out of WrestleMania fallout.

WWE promoted Zayn’s upcoming appearance by teasing that he will finally explain his actions after the shocking ambush.

“After his surprise ‘Gingerbread Man’ attack on @_trickwilliams and @lilyachty during Trick's United States Championship celebration, we will hear from @SamiZayn TONIGHT on #SmackDown!”

Zayn’s attack came just after Williams defeated him to capture the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 42, making the ambush feel less like a random stunt and more like the next chapter in their growing rivalry.

Friday’s SmackDown already has a loaded lineup beyond Zayn’s appearance. Several major names are scheduled to appear, and the show is shaping up to carry momentum from WrestleMania season into the next phase of WWE programming.
