Ryback was feeling pretty damn good about his social media numbers, but Lars Sullivan wasn’t impressed. The former WWE star jumped into Ryback’s mentions on September 18 and hit him with one brutal piece of advice after The Big Guy celebrated still having millions of followers nearly a decade after leaving WWE — go touch grass.
The whole thing started when the FADE account posted a list claiming to show the most-followed WWE stars on social media. The Rock sat miles ahead of everybody at 469 million followers, followed by Logan Paul at 53 million and John Cena at 23 million, while names including Roman Reigns, Triple H, Rhea Ripley, Randy Orton, The Bella Twins, Seth Rollins and Alexa Bliss rounded out the top ten.
Ryback saw those numbers and immediately noticed something about his own following. Despite being gone from WWE for roughly a decade, he said he still has more than seven million followers across his social platforms and thanked the people who have stuck with him.
“Pretty cool seeing these numbers. I’ve been away from WWE for 10 years and still have over 7 million followers across social media. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has continued to follow and support me through every chapter of this journey. We’re just getting started. Stay Hungry. Feed Me More! 💪🔥”
Then Lars Sullivan showed up and absolutely refused to join the celebration. Sullivan replied directly to Ryback’s post and made it clear that follower counts weren’t exactly keeping him up at night.
“Life is more than social media followers. Touch grass”
That’s it. No long rant, no breakdown of Ryback’s numbers and no argument over whether he deserved a spot on the original list. Sullivan basically saw Ryback flexing seven million followers and told him to get off the internet.
Sullivan has been spending plenty of time firing shots on social media lately himself. Ringside News recently covered how Sullivan went after wrestling journalist David Bixenspan in a vicious personal post before deleting the attack the following day. He has also taken shots at several other wrestling personalities during his latest run of posting online.
Ryback, meanwhile, clearly sees his seven-million-plus following as proof that his name still carries weight years after his WWE exit. Sullivan’s response was basically the exact opposite — millions of followers or not, there are apparently better things to care about.
It was only four words at the end of Sullivan’s post, but “touch grass” turned Ryback’s social media victory lap into another wrestling Twitter drive-by. Ryback wanted to celebrate how many people are still following him after ten years away from WWE, and Sullivan apparently thought the celebration itself was reason enough to tell him to log off.
