Sami Zayn fans were already furious about his nine-day WWE Title reign, and Lars Sullivan just threw gasoline on the whole conversation.

After CM Punk beat Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship on the July 6 episode of RAW in Chicago, fans spent the night ripping WWE for cutting Sami’s reign short. Mojo Rawley then jumped in and made it clear he thought the people still wanted Zayn.

“The people demand @SamiZayn !!!!”

Lars Sullivan saw that and went in a completely different direction. Instead of agreeing with the backlash, he took a shot at the fans demanding more for Sami, claiming that only Muslims and virgins and Reddit demand Zayn.

“Only muslims and virgins on reddit do, actually”

That instantly changed the tone of the conversation. Fans were already arguing over whether WWE did Sami dirty, but Lars’ response turned it into something much uglier.

The anger started because Sami waited 13 years to finally become WWE Champion, only for Punk to end the reign after just nine days. One fan summed up the frustration by pointing directly at how long Sami had been grinding for that moment: “Sami Zayn worked 13 years for a 9 day title reign… Yall should be ashamed.” Another fan didn’t bother dressing it up: “9 days?! F*** you all.”

Chicago got exactly the ending it wanted. CM Punk won the Undisputed WWE Championship in front of his hometown crowd, celebrated with the title, and even looked into the camera before leaving with one last message for AJ Lee: “I’ll be home in twenty minutes, babe.”

That was a feel-good ending if you were cheering for Punk. If you were cheering for Sami, it felt very different. Now, instead of fans only arguing about whether WWE pulled the trigger too quickly on Punk, they’re also talking about Sullivan’s response. One title change turned into two completely different debates, and neither one looks like it’s dying down anytime soon.
