WWE’s NXT brand has been forced to reload in a big way after the main roster called up many of its top stars. As the next generation continues to step into the spotlight, the June 9 episode of NXT featured a major opportunity for four of the brand’s rising stars.

One of the biggest matches of the night saw Kendal Grey and Kelani Jordan battle it out to determine the next challenger for Lola Vice’s NXT Women’s Championship. Everyone in the match fought hard to capture the #1 contender spot.

This was a hard-hitting contest, and fans were behind both competitors. They were ready to see who would walk out of the match with a title shot waiting for them at the Great American Bash.

This match went to a commercial break as Kelani Jordan stood tall as she punished her opponent around the ring. When the match continued after a word from the sponsors, Grey went for her finisher, but Kelani reversed it. They soon found themselves on the mat as Jordan wrenched back with a submission hold.

The match continued with several near falls for both competitors. Fans were behind this match the whole way as Kelani Jordan continued to pick Kendal Grey apart. Suddenly, Grey locked in an armbar, but Kelani rolled her up for a pin to break the hold. Suddenly, Kendal hit the Shades of Grey to become the new #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Title.

The 2026 NXT Great American Bash is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026, with a special start time of 7:00 PM Eastern. The NXT Arena in Orlando will play host to the big event, and it’s anyone’s guess what kind of headlines will come out of the night.
