The fallout from Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods leaving WWE isn’t slowing down — and now Jonathan Coachman is weighing in hard.

Coachman jumped on social media with what he called an “emergency wrestling take,” reacting directly to the situation that led to The New Day walking away. His focus wasn’t on where they’re going next — it was on how WWE handled things.

“My emergency wrestling take: why asking talent to renegotiate is just the start of a slippery slope that feels like an absolute power struggle backstage.”

In the video he posted, Coachman didn’t hold back. He made it clear this isn’t just about one team — he sees it as a bigger issue that could impact the entire locker room. He also pointed out something that stood out to him — that this kind of situation didn’t happen during his time in WWE under Vince McMahon.

“It’s not going to stop with The New Day. And this is why it’s such a problem.”

“In my entire time in the WWE… never once did I hear of Vince McMahon asking a talent after they had already agreed to a deal.”

Coachman then broke down why he believes Kingston and Woods made the call to leave, saying it likely came down to both pride and how they felt about the situation. He didn’t stop there either. Coachman warned that this kind of approach could backfire if WWE continues down this path, especially when it comes to keeping talent happy and motivated

“If you’re going to disrespect me… that’s exactly what it is.”

.“At some point, fairness has got to bleed into the conversation.”

He also suggested this could lead to more talent looking elsewhere if the same situation keeps happening. Coachman made his stance clear by the end — he doesn’t think this approach works in wrestling.

“Now you’re going to start to see it go the other way… when all these talents start to leave.”

“Renegotiation. That ain’t it.”

His comments add another layer to the situation surrounding The New Day’s exit. What started as a contract issue is now turning into a bigger conversation about how WWE handles talent under the TKO system.

Do you agree with Jonathan Coachman’s take on WWE asking talent to renegotiate deals, or is this just part of how business works now? Let us know your thoughts.
