Jimmy Wang Yang’s breakup with Krissy Vaine didn’t last very long. Just over a week after Yang publicly admitted he thought she’d be “the one,” the couple has already worked things out and gotten back together.
Earlier this month, Yang revealed the relationship had ended despite his plans to move to Florida to be with Vaine. He said he’d been flying down every other weekend and was preparing to relocate before everything unexpectedly fell apart.
Now, Vaine has shared her side of the story on Instagram, explaining that neither of them really wanted the relationship to end in the first place.
“I cannot be without my cowboy. This princess needs her rock. ❤️ We both had a moment. A miscommunication that turned into a HUGE mess. And then we both stubbornly stood on our hills for weeks. Standing on the proverbial hill alone SUCKED. It was horrendous and I don’t think either of us ever wants to do that again.”
According to Vaine, the breakup wasn’t caused by one major issue. Instead, she said the pressure of trying to merge two established lives after nearly a year of long distance finally caught up with them.
“We aren’t perfect. We have our issues just like anyone else. But James is my person. We’ve been locked in since day 1. Sometimes from breakdowns come the biggest breakthroughs. The truth is, long distance has been HARD on both of us. We’re approaching the one-year mark—after a year we said we’d be under one roof. As that year got closer, the pressure was building. So were everyone’s nerves. And eventually, we broke. Over a few things that piled up and weren’t anything. Except a reason to pick a fight to avoid big changes. Change is horrifying.”
Vaine admitted the split also made her realize she still had emotional walls up, something she didn’t fully understand until Yang was gone.
“So much fear. Being THIS in love, this late in life. Everything has to change. We’ve both been single, living our own lives with our kids for years. We have homes, routines, families and entire worlds we’ve built separately. And somehow, we have to figure out how to bring those worlds together. That’s a lot. And for a minute, the weight of it got bigger than us. And we freaking broke. Shows you we are cool on the internet—but we are human IRL. We don’t have it all figured out.
I didn’t even realize I still had a wall up with this man until I lost him!!! And losing him broke that wall all the way down. I have a beautiful, full life. I know that. But none of it felt the same without the person I love sharing everything with.”
Instead of calling it quits, the two decided to meet halfway with their families and see if they could save the relationship. That conversation ended with both of them deciding they weren’t ready to let each other go.
“So this weekend, we each drove 3.5 hours with our families in tow to meet in the middle and ask one simple question: Can we repair this? The answer was a big ol hell yeah. ❤️”
Vaine made it clear that she’s okay with their reconciliation being just as public as their breakup. If everyone watched things fall apart, she figured they might as well see them come back together too.
“I’m gonna reiterate—we are NOT perfect. But we deeply love each other. And love can make you crazy sometimes. We had our moment. Unfortunately, we had ours in front of EVERYONE. But maybe that’s okay too. Because if the breakdown happened out loud, maybe the breakthrough can happen out loud too. I love you @jimmywyang. Breakthrough > Breakdown. ❤️”
The breakup ended up lasting only a couple of weeks, but that was apparently enough for both of them to realize they didn’t want to walk away. Now they’re giving the relationship another shot, with the same goal they had before everything went sideways—finally closing the distance and building a life together.
