Jimmy Hart is still flying the WWE flag after decades in the wrestling business, and the Hall of Famer has no plans to slow down.
Hart appeared on 3News to promote Wrestling Under the Stars in Avon, Ohio, where he showed off his first WWE Funko Pop and revealed that he remains active with the company. The legendary manager also confirmed that he will be helping promote SummerSlam.
Hart first pointed out that his new WWE collectible was featured on the back of his jacket, even though he forgot to bring the actual figure and his trademark megaphone to the studio.
“You know, I have a new WWE Funko Pop that just came out, but I didn’t bring it either. I should have brought the megaphone and the Funko Pop. But you know what I did? I put it on the back of my jacket. Look at this. Can you believe this? A little self-promotion, right? WWE—it’s my first one. We’ll have those there tonight too.”
The conversation then shifted to Hart’s current relationship with WWE. The Mouth of the South made it clear that he is still working with the company and will be part of the promotional push for SummerSlam.
“Everything’s been going great. I’m still doing stuff with WWE. I’ll be promoting SummerSlam this year a couple of weeks from now. It’s going to be bigger than ever, of course, with all of our superstars on it.”
Hart has spent most of his life selling wrestling matches, hyping stars and making sure people know where the next big show is taking place. He joked that he now feels like legendary showman P.T. Barnum because he is still traveling and promoting events after all these years.
“I’m still doing it. I feel like P.T. Barnum and Bailey. I’m still out pushing it, man. I’m still out rocking and rolling.”
Hart’s WWE career began in the 1980s, and he went on to manage names such as Hulk Hogan, The Hart Foundation, The Honky Tonk Man, Greg Valentine and The Nasty Boys. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and has remained connected to the company through appearances, promotional work and special events.
Jimmy Hart may not be standing at ringside with a megaphone every week anymore, but he is still out there selling WWE like only The Mouth of the South can. With SummerSlam on the way, the company still has one of its loudest and most recognizable personalities helping spread the word.
