Kairi Sane showing up at AEW All In would be a massive surprise, but fans probably shouldn’t count on it. The former WWE star was still unsigned as of the latest update, and there was work left to do before she could commit to any company. Then again, this is wrestling—and nothing is dead until the show ends.
During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp was asked whether AEW was saving Thekla for a possible Kairi debut at All In. Sapp made it clear that Kairi had not signed a contract as of the recording.
“As of right this moment, as I film this—the last weekend of August, or the second-to-last weekend of August—Kairi isn’t signed to any company. There’s still work to be done on that.”
That makes an All In appearance look unlikely, especially with the show only days away. However, Sapp’s update did not say Kairi had rejected AEW or that the two sides had stopped talking. His wording leaves just enough room for something to happen if the remaining work gets finished in time.
Sapp was also asked whether Thekla’s current All In status had anything to do with a possible Kairi debut. He did not know what AEW had planned for Thekla but believes she deserves a major spot on the card with or without Kairi.
“I’m not sure what Thekla is doing at All In, but she absolutely deserves to be on the card in a substantial way. The fact that she isn’t, as of yet, is kind of weird because she is huge for them, and she should probably be winning on that card as things stand.”
Kairi previously told ShuPro that she had received more offers than she could count from promotions in Japan and around the world. Despite all that interest, she had not chosen where the next chapter of her career would begin.
“I haven’t made a final decision yet. I’m prepared to complete a new story from here, all the way to the end.”
Kairi also fueled AEW speculation by listing veteran agent Barry Bloom as her representative for business inquiries. Bloom represents several major AEW names, but that connection has not produced a signed contract yet.
All signs point to Kairi Sane sitting out AEW All In, but the door has not been slammed shut. If she does appear, AEW will have pulled off a genuine last-minute surprise.
