Jim Ross isn’t just talking about a comeback anymore — he’s already got his next booking lined up and it’s AEW Double or Nothing.

After weeks of concern following a frightening fall at home that left him unable to get up for hours, Ross has now provided a clear update on his recovery and return timeline. Speaking on Grilling JR on April 23, 2026, he confirmed that AEW Double or Nothing is firmly in his sights.

“I’m planning on being there—that’s my next booking, as it were. Tony Khan is so good about that. I see it all the time on social media—these guys are getting paid all this money and they’re not working. But I want to work—that’s the difference between me and other people.”

Good ol’ JR didn’t stop there. He made it clear that while he’s eager to return, he’s not willing to do it unless he can do it on his own terms physically.

“I want to work, but I’ve got to get steady walking, and I’m not gonna walk out to the ring with a walker or cane—I’m just too damn egocentric.”

This update shifts the focus from uncertainty to a clear target — AEW’s Double or Nothing event on May 24, now set for Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. After previously saying travel was still a challenge and ruling himself out for Dynasty, Ross is now aiming for a full return just weeks later.

If everything stays on track, Double or Nothing could mark his first appearance back after a situation that initially raised serious concern about his condition — and now looks like a turning point toward full recovery.
