Jeff Jarrett thinks Chad Gable may need to start thinking bigger than WWE after his huge AAA moment last week.

After Gable’s praised Mask vs. Mask match against Ludwig Kaiser at AAA Noche de los Grandes in Monterrey, Jarrett weighed in on My World with Jeff Jarrett and said he does not see WWE suddenly making Gable a top guy, even after the El Grande Americano run.

“I just don’t see the WWE pushing him, because he worked under the Vince regime. And obviously now he’s worked under Triple H regime, but they’re not all of a sudden magically going to go ‘Oh yeah, he’s our guy.’”

Jarrett’s point was that Gable has already been seen by multiple WWE creative regimes, which may make it harder for him to break through in a major way inside the company. Even with the AAA match earning praise, Jarrett does not believe that performance will automatically change WWE’s view of him. Jarrett then said Gable should use his contract situation as leverage, especially with New Japan Pro-Wrestling entering a new business phase after its recent sale to TV Asahi and CyberAgent.

“I would absolutely leverage the contract situation with New Japan having new owners and so on. I just think he needs to keep doing what he’s doing, but be ready to leave. I don’t see TKO coming to him and saying, ‘Hey man, you performed great in Monterrey, we’re going to give you a bump in pay.’ I just don’t see that. I think he could monetize his talent more.”

The comments come after JBL praised Gable and Kaiser for their bloody Mask vs. Mask match at AAA Noche de los Grandes. JBL called Gable the best wrestler in the world and said the match showed wrestling at its highest level.

Gable’s WWE deal still has roughly a year left, giving him time to keep working while considering what comes next. Jarrett’s view is that Gable should keep building his value, but also be prepared to walk away if WWE does not give him the push or pay bump he wants. The El Grande Americano run gave Gable a major focus in Mexico, but Jeff Jarrett believes that success may be more valuable as leverage than as a guarantee of a bigger WWE role.
