Jacob Fatu has a message for wrestlers who spend their time fighting with fans on social media: stop wasting your energy.
While speaking with HOT 97, Fatu was asked how he deals with criticism now that he’s become one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars. Instead of talking about the negative comments aimed at him, he turned his attention to fellow wrestlers, saying far too many of them get caught up arguing with anonymous people online when they should be focused on their careers.
“Man, let me tell y’all something, man. Man, the internet is fake. All right. So, everybody going back and forth with these fans on the comments. Hey, bro. That’s ass.”
Fatu said social media isn’t the real world and believes performers lose the moment they start giving internet trolls the attention they’re looking for. As far as he’s concerned, the only thing that should matter is whether you’re still succeeding in your career and getting paid to do what you love.
“Listen, bro. The check still clearing every week. Keep doing your thing.”
He admitted it frustrates him whenever he sees wrestlers getting pulled into online arguments because he doesn’t see any value in trying to change the minds of strangers on the internet. Instead, he’d rather see them ignore the noise and keep their attention on what really matters.
“And it’s coming from me, man. I’m tired of my people going online. I’m like, bro, what is you doing arguing with this? Come on, bro. Hey, ready? Is your check clearing? All right. Shut the f*** up.”
For the Samoan Werewolf, success speaks louder than comment sections, and he believes wrestlers are far better off letting their work inside the ring do the talking.
