Jack Perry is done waiting around for Samoa Joe to come back. During the September 16, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite, Perry directly called out the former AEW World Champion and made it clear that he believes Joe has been gone long enough.
Perry addressed Joe’s absence head-on and challenged him to finally show his face again. He didn’t dance around what he wanted either, ending his message with a line that sounded a lot more like a threat than an invitation. Perry said, “Make my day.”
Then AEW dropped a pretty obvious tease about where this could be going. As Perry finished speaking, the camera panned away and revealed the words “JOE IS GONNA KILL YOU” painted across the wall nearby, immediately bringing back one of the chants most closely associated with Samoa Joe.
Joe has been off AEW television for months after announcing on the May 27 episode of Dynamite that outside opportunities were pulling him away. At the time, he told The Opps that Hollywood was calling and that he would be stepping away for a few months while expecting the group to keep things moving without him. Joe made his exit sound temporary from the beginning.
“But once again, opportunity calls and Hollywood’s ringing. Gentlemen, I’ll be stepping away for a few months, but you all know how this works. I expect you to hold it down.”
His absence lined up with his acting commitments, including his role on Peacock’s Twisted Metal, but Perry clearly isn’t interested in waiting any longer. By openly calling Joe out on Dynamite, AEW now appears to be laying the groundwork for Joe’s return and a confrontation between the two.
The graffiti at the end wasn’t exactly subtle either. Perry may have told Samoa Joe to “make my day,” but AEW made sure viewers were left with a reminder of exactly what usually happens when somebody goes looking for Joe.
