AEW Dynamite Results (9/16/2026): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens up with Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz welcoming us and they run down the card for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite as well as the implications for All Out next weekend. We then take a look at what went down last week on Dynamite as Borden and Allin aided the AEW World Tag Team Champions.
We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Darby Allin and Steve Borden ahead of their match later tonight. Copeland gives Borden some props for his successful debut on TV last week before Christian starts to talk about the loss of his father’s in-ring career. This is then interrupted by Darby, who mentions he and Cage aren’t fully through but Copeland wants to make sure they are all good for tonight. They then reluctantly agree before leaving.
We then see Big Stoke speaking with FTR and the Don Callis Family about their match with the babyface team and they are not on the same page.
Adam Copeland then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night. Christian Cage then makes his way down to the ring next and Darby Allin and Steven Borden follows. FTR then make their way down to the ring and Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher follow.
8-Man Tag Team Match: AEW World Tag Team Champions Cage & Cope (“The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland and Christian Cage), AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin and Steven Borden vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax “The Axe” Harwood) and Don Callis Family (“The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher and “The Jet” Kevin Knight)
The match starts off with Adam Copeland and Kyle Fletcher and both men lock up, with Fletcher being brought to the ropes. Fletcher then fights back for position but is brought back to the ropes, forcing a break on his way to the outside. Fletcher then makes his way back in the ring and goes on the offense until Darby Allin tags in. Some tension here as Christian Cage tags himself in instead, but Allin slaps him on the back to get back in the match. Fletcher then takes advantage of this by going after Allin, lifting him up for a suplex but Steven Borden gets the tag to go after Fletcher. Things then quickly break down as FTR come into the ring as well as Knight Knight, Copeland, Cage and Allin.
This then finally ends with Dax Harwood officially tagging in to square up with Borden, who takes Harwood to the corner before slapping him in the face. Harwood then fires up as he takes Borden to the mat and it is followed by sending Borden to the corner, but Borden fights back for a dropkick and takes a near fall for his efforts. Borden then knocks Fletcher and Knight off the apron, but this allows Harwood to go after him until Borden sends him to the ropes and Harwood decides to take a breather on the outside. This then doesn’t last long as Allin lands some shots on him before sending him back into the ring and chaos ensues when all eight men go at it. Allin and Wheeler then go at it in the ring, with Allin being sent to the mat.
A tag is then made to Fletcher, who keeps Allin from getting a tag as Harwood and the DCF take the remaining competitors off the apron in the opposite corner. Fletcher then sends Allin to the corner, where Callis gets a cheap shot in for good measure. Allin then starts to fight back as Harwood gets involved off a tag, but Allin makes a tag to Borden who goes off on Fletcher, FTR and Knight. Harwood then sends Borden to the corner, setting him up for a chop on the top turnbuckle. Harwood then looks for a superplex, but Borden knocks Harwood back with right hands as the crowd chants “Steve” before Harwood gets sent to the mat. Things then start to break down as the remaining competitors come in, but we’re left with Allin and Wheeler before Allin gets sent to the outside allowing FTR and DCF to set up Borden for a four post combo culminating in a UFO Splash by Knight.
Harwood then gets the cover, but only gets a two count. He then wears down Borden with some strikes before looking for a Scorpion Deathlock, but Borden kicks him away, sending him into a chair shot by Cage on the outside. Cage then follows it up by taking out Knight and Wheeler, while Allin hits a Coffin Drop on Harwood allowing Borden to get the pin for the win.
The winners of the 8-Man Tag Team Match, AEW World Tag Team Champions Cage & Cope (“The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland and Christian Cage), AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin and Steven Borden!
After the match, some more tension as Cage starts to celebrate with Darby’s TNT Title.
We then head to the back to hear from Jon Moxley. He addresses Will Ospreay targeting him and the World Title Match they’re set to have at All Out. Moxley says nobody understands how hard the road to being champion is like he does. Moxley then says he hopes that Ospreay has learned some lessons from their time together, including the idea that a belt around a wrestler’s waist doesn’t necessarily make them the best. Moxley then admits that Gabe Kidd and PAC would love to tune Will up before their All Out match, with Kidd looking to break the new champ’s leg during their trios match tonight. PAC then says it’s the Death Riders against the world and they’re not gonna let Ospreay off the hook.
We then get some hype for the Women’s World Tag Team Championship Match at All Out followed by a video package, with Lena Kross set to take on Jamie Hayter later tonight.
Jericho then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night. We then take a look back at the feud that’s been building up between him and Nick Wayne before Wayne makes his way down to the ring to get this match underway.
Singles Match: Jericho vs. Nick Wayne
The match starts off with the crowd chanting for Jericho as he locks up with Nick Wayne, who quickly takes Jericho to the mat. Wayne then mocks Jericho, telling him to show him something and Jericho seemingly obliges by taking him down with a body slam. Wayne is then flustered as he slaps Jericho, which only fires Jericho up as he takes Wayne to the corner and to the canvas only for Wayne to block a Lionsault attempt. Wayne then hits some shots before he goes to the ropes, but Jericho fights back with a backbreaker. Jericho then lifts Wayne up for a delayed vertical suplex, but a boot on the chest only gets him a two count as Wayne kicks out. Wayne then jabs Jericho in the eye to regain control, bringing him to the apron as he continues firing off shots.
Jericho then fights it out with Wayne on the apron now, hitting him with a Death Valley Driver onto the hardest part of the ring. Jericho then celebrates before bringing Wayne to his feet, only for Wayne to send him into the ring steps. Jericho then pops to his feet, but Wayne hits him with a Destroyer to the floor. Both men are now in the ring and Jericho hits Wayne with a back body drop before sending him to the outside. Wayne isn’t able to get back into this right away as he’s knocked right off the apron before Jericho goes up top for an elbow drop. He then brings Wayne to the apron, but Wayne fights back with a kick before hitting a senton to drive Jericho onto the apron. Jericho then rolls back into the ring as Wayne goes up top, jumping into a Codebreaker by Jericho for two.
Jericho then brings Wayne to his feet for some chops before Wayne fights back with a standing Sliced Bread for a near fall of his own. Wayne then waits for Jericho to get back to his feet, but misses a roundhouse kick as Jericho looks for the Walls instead. Wayne then powers out and hits a thrust kick, only for Jericho to intercept him in the corner for some punches and a hurricanrana sending Wayne to the canvas. Wayne then retreats to the opposite corner, only for Jericho to catch him with another combo there but Wayne dodges a Judas Effect and takes Jericho down hard for a two count. Both men are now down and out after trading chops. Jericho then accidentally destroys Wayne’s necklace and rolls him up for the win.
The winner of the Singles Match, Jericho!
After the match, Nick Wayne is beside himself partly over the loss and partly over Jericho seemingly breaking his necklace. Jericho then offers him a hand to get up, but Wayne fires off on him before grabbing a chair from ringside. He then slams it against Jericho’s back, sending him down hard before taking his leave from the ring.
The commentators then announce that Mercedes Moné is injured and she is not cleared to wrestle at All Out 2026. They then announce Thekla vs. Willow Nightingale for the PPV instead. We then get a video package centered around Willow Nightingale and Thekla calling out Mercedes Moné before looking ahead to their All Out match.
We then head to the back, where we hear from Will Ospreay, Andrade El Idolo and Francesco Akira ahead of their trios match later tonight. Ospreay addresses the Death Riders as well as the United Empire inviting the likes of El Idolo into the group, while noting that El Idolo shows off the contract for his guaranteed shot at the World Title. El Idolo then tells him to relax as he’s focused on tonight’s match and we get a few words from Akira in Italian allegedly translated to “let’s kick the s–t out of the Death Riders!”
The Conglomeration then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido follow.
AEW World Trios Championship #1 Contender’s Match: The Conglomeration (Roderick Strong, “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly) vs. Brodido (Brody King and ROH World Champion Bandido) and “Hangman” Adam Page
The match starts off with Hangman Page and Kyle O’Reilly facing off, with O’Reilly being sent to the mat with a shoulder tackle by Page. Page then goes for a sunset flip, but O’Reilly counters into a cross arm breaker. Back and forth they go as the two counter each other, until Page wrings the arm of O’Reilly for a tag to Bandido. Bandido then goes to work on O’Reilly’s arm before O’Reilly turns it around, sending Bandido to the ropes. Bandido then dodges it, but O’Reilly in turn blocks a suplex before going after the arm of Bandido. Trade of arm drags between both men before O’Reilly hits Bandido with a hard kick to the chest. A tag is then made to Orange Cassidy as he and O’Reilly double team Bandido.
Cassidy then continues to hold control until Bandido gets the tag to Brody King, who hits some chops on Cassidy before dropping him to the mat. Cassidy then kips up, only to realize King is right behind him. King then sends him to the corner, where Roderick Strong gets a tag. Strong and King then trade chops back and forth. Bandido then hoists Cassidy up for a delayed suplex, sending Cassidy to the mat. Both men are now down until Cassidy gets a tag back to Strong and Page gets the tag for his team. Page then sends Strong up to the mat before O’Reilly runs in, only to be dropped with a boot by Page. Cassidy and Strong are then stacked in the corner as Strong tries to send Cassidy into Page, who catches him in mid-air before dropping Strong with a boot and sending Cassidy out of the ring with a fall away slam.
He then sends O’Reilly out of the ring before dropping Strong hard for a two count. Strong then blocks a Dead Eye before hitting some kicks on Page and a tag to O’Reilly proves ineffective when he gets kicked out by Page. King then comes in off a tag and he goes after O’Reilly and Strong before tags are made to Page and Bandido. They then set up Strong and O’Reilly as Cassidy gets a blind tag, only to be dropped off the apron by King who hits a cannonball on the other guys. He then goes for a baseball slide to Cassidy, but gets sent to the barricade instead as O’Reilly hits a running kick on him. Back in the ring, Page goes after Cassidy before being dropped with a backbreaker by Strong, leaving us with Bandido and Cassidy in the ring. Bandido then hits a cutter from a suplex position, but only gets a two. Bandido then gets dropped with a Stundog Millionaire and an Orange Punch, but the triple team from Conglomeration only leads to another near fall.
Strong then drags Cassidy to the corner for a tag while Page tags in as well and the two trade strikes until Page lays out Strong with a clothesline. Cassidy then intervenes, looking for a DDT off the ropes. Page then blocks this, but it allows Cassidy to feign riding the back of the Page who turns it around on Cassidy before Strong knocks him down. O’Reilly then hits some shots on him but is dropped by King, who blocks an Orange Punch and takes some kick from Cassidy only to get rocked by an actual hard kick by Strong. Page then takes him out and blocks an Orange Punch, hitting a Buckshot Lariat on Strong for the win.
