Grayson Waller is already making things personal ahead of his next NXT Championship defense. With Halloween Havoc coming up on October 31, the champion decided to take a pretty brutal shot at Tony D’Angelo before they even get in the ring.
Speaking with Tyler Walsh, Waller talked up his run as NXT Champion and made it clear he doesn’t see D’Angelo as the guy who’s going to end it. Then, in typical Waller fashion, he turned his attention to D’Angelo’s weight and Italian heritage while talking about their upcoming title match.
“I’m the king of NXT, and I’m gonna be the champion for a long time coming, lads. As everyone knows, October 31st — unfortunately, I don’t get to celebrate Halloween properly, but that’s probably a good thing — I’m taking on Tony D’Angelo. He would actually fit in well here in New York. He’s a fat Italian who’s about to get drowned when Grayson Waller defends the NXT Championship against him.”
Waller wasn’t finished there either. He kept going with the food jokes, telling D’Angelo to enjoy himself while he still can because Waller plans on being the one celebrating once Halloween Havoc is over.
“Keep enjoying the cannolis, keep enjoying the pastrami, the salami, the pasta — all those things, because I’m gonna be enjoying the victory October 31st at Halloween Havoc.”
The trash talk comes after a busy few weeks around the NXT Championship picture. Mason Rook previously earned a future shot at Waller’s title by defeating Tony D’Angelo and Saquon Shugars in a Triple Threat Match on the September 15 episode of NXT. That means Waller already has another challenger waiting in the wings, but first he has to make it through D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc.
Waller certainly doesn’t sound worried about that happening. He’s already talking like his championship reign is going to last for a long time, and now D’Angelo has a few extra reasons to want to shut him up on October 31.
