The Godfather isn’t hiding how important marijuana is to his daily routine, and he says promoters booking him may actually have to provide it as part of the deal.
During a chaotic panel featuring The Godfather, JBL and Ron Simmons, the WWE Hall of Famer openly discussed his cannabis use and explained that it isn’t just something he occasionally enjoys. Godfather said cannabis has had a major impact on his life and helped him move away from other substances.
“I’m a big cannabis person. Cannabis saved my life. Cannabis got me off of a lot of…”
JBL jumped in before Godfather finished the thought, but Godfather quickly made it clear he was being serious.
“No, it has. And that’s for real.”
That led into a story about an appearance in Charlotte roughly a year or two earlier. JBL remembered Godfather showing up extremely angry, and Godfather explained exactly why. According to Godfather, anyone booking him already knows marijuana is part of his arrangement. The problem at this particular appearance was that Godfather wasn’t impressed with what he had been given.
“When you book me, part of my deal is you have to supply a half an ounce of weed. And that’s for real. That’s part of the deal.”
“The marijuana that I got was very sh*tty, so I was… There’s this guy you see now, who I’m basically like this 90% of the time, but there’s 10% where this guy named Bear comes out, and he’s nothing like the Godfather. He’s kind of mean.”
Godfather said The Undertaker calls that side of him “Bear,” and explained that not getting his usual morning smoke had put him in a bad mood.
“I came down in the morning and I didn’t get my morning smoke on. I wasn’t happy, and I’m a lot different person.”
The story eventually ended with Jerry Brisco finding Godfather a joint, but the biggest revelation came straight from Godfather himself: supplying half an ounce of marijuana is something he says can literally be part of booking him for an appearance.
Godfather has never exactly hidden his relationship with cannabis, but saying it is written into the expectations surrounding his bookings takes things to another level.
