Gail Kim saw her name getting dragged into the Tessa Blanchard drama and hit the brakes real quick, as she shut down claims that she advocated bringing in Tessa Blanchard to TNA.
Blanchard is out of TNA again after it was reported that her exit came down to wrestling politics. The issue was that Blanchard couldn’t keep working CMLL in Mexico while also working TNA, because TNA’s relationship with WWE creates problems with AAA, CMLL’s biggest rival. So Blanchard picked CMLL, where she has worked for years.
That update had fans talking all over again about TNA bringing Blanchard back in the first place. One fan put Gail Kim directly in the line of fire, accusing her of pushing hard for Blanchard’s return despite the past controversy around Blanchard.
“Good, and I still give Gail Kim the side eye for advocating for her so hard to her come back, all because her racism and bullying weren’t towards anyone Asians cause that’s clearly the only time she cares.”
Gail was not about to let that version of the story sit out there. She fired back and said she never advocated for Blanchard. According to Kim, she simply didn’t fight against giving Blanchard a second chance when others wanted to bring her in. She also made it clear that not every Knockouts division decision ran through her.
“Wrong. I never advocated for her. I just didn’t fight giving her a second chance to everyone who wanted to bring her in. Not every decision around the KO division was made by me just so everyone is clear on that. I was TR and a producer. I never did creative either. Don’t speak on matters you actually don’t know anything about.”
Then Gail clarified the difference even more. Being involved because of her Talent Relations job, she said, is not the same thing as personally campaigning for Blanchard behind the scenes: “Being part of a process bc it was my job is different from advocating hard.”
That is the part Gail clearly wanted people to understand. She was Talent Relations and a producer, not creative, and she says the idea that she was the main person pushing for Blanchard’s return is flat-out wrong.
So, Tessa Blanchard’s second TNA run is already over, but the fallout from her return is still causing arguments online. Gail Kim says fans can debate the decision all they want, but she is not accepting blame for something she says she did not push for.
