Former WWE NXT star Damon Kemp had a terrifying scare Friday after being struck by lightning.
Kemp, whose real name is Bobby Steveson, shared a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed and revealed what happened with a short message.
“Survived my first and hopefully last lightning strike.”
Steveson did not provide any additional details about where the strike happened or the extent of his injuries, but the hospital photo made it clear the situation was serious enough to require medical attention.
The former amateur wrestling standout signed with WWE in 2021 and worked in NXT as Damon Kemp. He was part of Diamond Mine alongside the Creed Brothers before later joining the No Quarter Catch Crew with Charlie Dempsey, Tavion Heights and Myles Borne.
His WWE contract expired in July 2025, and NXT later wrote Kemp off television with a bizarre angle that saw his unseen body placed into the trunk of a car. Since leaving WWE, Steveson has worked a handful of independent wrestling dates while also releasing country music. Steveson is also the younger brother of Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, who has competed in WWE and mixed martial arts and also pursued an NFL career.
For now, the biggest news is that Steveson survived an incredibly dangerous situation and was able to share the update himself from the hospital.
