Jey Uso is going to the King of the Ring finals, and a whole lot of fans are not exactly yeeting with joy.
During the June 19 edition of SmackDown, Jey Uso defeated Je’Von Evans to punch his ticket to Night of Champions, where he’ll face Oba Femi in the tournament finals. The winner gets the crown and a world title shot at SummerSlam, so this was not just another TV win.
The problem? A lot of fans wanted Evans to get that moment. After the match, Twitter lit up with complaints about WWE once again choosing an established name over a newer star. One fan ripped the decision by saying WWE should have used the spot to build fresh talent instead.
“build new talent? nah, push the 40 year old alcoholic who can’t even do a neckbreaker bump properly 🗣️🗣️🗣️ THIS IS WHAT WE DO 🗣️🗣️🗣️”
Another fan didn’t hold back on Jey moving forward: “Nobody wanted one of the worst wrestlers in the company to advance.” The backlash got even worse from there, with one fan comparing Jey’s main-event run to Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship reign.
“Jey Uso is the worst main eventer since Jinder was WWE champion, if he wasn’t Samoan he would have been fired years ago.”
Triple H also got dragged into the mess, because of course he did. Fans went after WWE’s creative boss over the booking call, and some of the reactions got ugly fast. Several tweets crossed the line into violent comments, showing just how heated the reaction became after Evans lost.
“wasted a generational assassin on charlie kirk when we could’ve put hunter down instead.
Someone’s gotta rip the pacemaker out triple h’s chest like this.”
That is the real story here. Jey winning is a major step for his King of the Ring run, but the fan reaction shows plenty of people are frustrated that Je’Von Evans still hasn’t landed that huge breakout win on the main roster.
Bottom line, WWE now has Jey Uso vs. Oba Femi set for Night of Champions, but the road there came with serious fan backlash. Jey is going to Riyadh, Evans is left waiting again, and fans are making it very clear they are not all on board with the call.
What do you think? Did WWE make the right call by sending Jey Uso to the finals, or should Je’Von Evans have gotten the win? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
