WWE SmackDown Results (6/19/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens up with Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett welcoming us as we see the pre-show arrivals of Cody Rhodes, GUNTHER, Sami Zayn, Liv Morgan, Je’Von Evans, Jey Uso, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair.
We then take a look at the Undisputed WWE Championship picture with a video package. This will be the opening match of the night and it will be commercial-free.
Sami Zayn makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night and he receives a chorus of boos. GUNTHER then makes his way down to the ring next and Cody Rhodes follows.
Undisputed WWE Championship Match (Special Guest Referee: Sami Zayn): “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes (c) vs. “The Ring General” GUNTHER
The match starts off with both men locking up and GUNTHER drops Cody Rhodes and targets his left arm. Rhodes then fights back with a right hand, but GUNTHER nails Rhodes with a series of chops. Rhodes then fights back again, but Sami Zayn tries to hold him back, allowing GUNTHER to hit a big boot. GUNTHER then gets a lateral press for a near fall. GUNTHER then drives his elbow down into the center of his Rhodes’ forehead. Rhodes then hits GUNTHER with a Cody Cutter. Rhodes then follows it up with a powerslam. GUNTHER then chops Rhodes down from behind. He then applies a Figure-4 in the middle of the ring. Rhodes then goes for a quick roll-up, but runs into a boot. GUNTHER then follows it up with a lariat for a near fall.
GUNTHER then goes for a Powerbomb, but Rhodes counters with a Cross Rhodes. Rhodes then gets into an argument with Zayn. GUNTHER then applies a Sleeper Hold from behind and Rhodes makes it to the ropes to break the hold. GUNTHER then shoves Zayn and powerbombs him. Rhodes then hits a Super Cutter to GUNTHER and he follows it up with a Cross Rhodes. A new referee then comes down to the ring, but fails to make a three count. Both men are now battling it out on the top rope. GUNTHER then hits a missile dropkick and he follows it up with a Powerbomb. Zayn then drags out the new referee to break the fall. Back in the ring, Zayn hits a Helluva Kick to GUNTHER, allowing Rhodes to get a victory with a quick roll-up.

After the match, we see Nick Aldis confronting Sami Zayn on his way to the back. Aldis is irate over Zayn’s officiating. GUNTHER then walks off angrily.
We then see GUNTHER arguing with Nick Aldis backstage. Cody Rhodes then makes his way back to the ring and asks to restart the match. GUNTHER then lays waste to Zayn. Cody Rhodes vs. GUNTHER for the Undisputed WWE Championship has been restarted with a new referee.

The match starts off with both men locking up and exchanging strikes in the middle of the ring. GUNTHER then applies a Sleeper Hold. Rhodes then tries to fight out of it and he breaks free and applies a Sleeper Hold on GUNTHER. Sami Zayn then makes his way back to the ring and he hits GUNTHER with a Helluva Kick. Zayn then knocks out the referee. He then hits Rhodes in the head with the Undisputed WWE Championship and the referee calls for the bell.
The winner of the Undisputed WWE Championship Match due to a disqualification, “The Ring General” GUNTHER! But still the Undisputed WWE Champion, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes!
After the match, Sami Zayn throws down the belt and he utters a word that the network doesn’t approve. Cody Rhodes then sits in the ring, not certain of what is going on.
We then take a look back at what happened with Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill.
We then see Cathy Kelley ask Jade Cargill where her focus is. Jade then asks if there is a problem. Jade then says she does what she wants. Jade then says they run the division. Jade then says they will take a pit stop at Tiffany Stratton. B-Fab then asks why did Tiffany get involved when she isn’t in Queen of the Ring. Michin then says Charlotte Flair took Jade’s spot. Jade then challenges Tiffany for the Women’s United States Title at Night of Champions.
We then see GUNTHER walk up to Nick Aldis and GUNTHER says he was screwed over twice. GUNTHER then says he doesn’t think Nick Aldis is fit for his job. GUNTHER then says he wants a rematch at Night of Champions.
We then take a look at the King of the Ring tournament match from last week.
We then head to the backstage with Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu is here. Sikoa says the answer is still no. Fatu then says he is here to make sure nobody gets involved in Jey Uso’s King of the Ring Semifinals. Fatu then says he thinks Sikoa is making the wrong decision. Fatu then says The OTC isn’t going to wait too long. Fatu then says Sikoa is running out of time to make the right choice. Tama Tonga then walks up to Sikoa and asks him about Fatu. Sikoa then explains everything. He then says he wants the Tag Team Championship match. Tonga then tells Sikoa to stay back since his family business is starting to mess with their family business. Tama Tonga then says he doesn’t know who Sikoa is out there for. Talla Tonga then says all they care about are the tag titles.
We then see Blake Monroe and she says she met Giulia before in the Land of the Rising Sun. Blake then says she knew that Giulia would get to the dance. Blake then says you forgot your step and it has clouded your vision. Blake then tells her not to cry when she passes Giulia.
Damian Priest and R-Truth then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga follow.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Damian Priest and R-Truth (c) vs. MFT (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga)
The match starts off with Damian Priest and Talla Tonga and both men lock up. Priest then hits a series of right hands. Priest then hits Talla with a couple of forearms. Talla then hits Priest with a shoulder tackle. Talla then corners Tama Tonga and tags Tama Tonga in. Priest then hits a flying elbow. Priest then hits several right hands on Tama in the corner. R-Truth then comes in. R-Truth then hits Tama with a Splash. R-Truth then hits a series of shoulder tackles and he follows it up with a Five Knuckle Shuffle. R-Truth then goes for an AA, but Talla distracts him, allowing Tama to send R-Truth to the outside. R-Truth then runs into a big boot. Priest then launches himself off the steel steps, but Talla plants him on the apron.
Tama then sends R-Truth back into the ring and pounds away at him. Talla then gets the tag. Talla then continues the beatdown on R-Truth. Tama then applies a Half Boston Crab on R-Truth, targeting his lower back. R-Truth then tries to fight back, but Tama regains control. Tama then applies a rear chin lock in the middle of the ring and the WWE Universe tries to rally R-Truth. Priest then comes in. Priest then hits a series of right hands to Tama. Priest then hits Tama with a spinning heel kick. Priest then knocks Talla off the apron. Damian then hits a Splash to Tama in the corner and he follows it up with a Flat Liner for a near fall.
Talla then goes for a Chokeslam, but Priest sends him over the top rope. Tama then hits Priest with a Snap Neck Breaker. Solo Sikoa then makes his way down to the ring and Priest takes him out. He then sends Talla into the ring post. R-Truth then gets the win with a quick roll-up.

After the match, Solo Sikoa then gets on the apron, but the MFTs walk away from him.
We then see Sami Zayn and he says the hardest thing to do is stay true to yourself. We then see he is talking to Johnny Gargano. Zayn then says half give up for doing one thing, but he loses the other half. Nick Aldis then yells at Sami Zayn for the fast count. Aldis asks what Zayn was thinking. Zayn says he was asked to be the referee. Zayn then says he called it down the middle. Zayn then says GUNTHER power bombed him. Zayn then says you didn’t trust him. Zayn then says you thought he would screw over Cody Rhodes, but he didn’t. Zayn then says Nick is probably happy that Cody is still champion. Zayn then says Cody should be thanking him because he is the reason he is still champion. Zayn then says he is not going away that easily.
We then see Jey Uso is in the back and he says he is blazing past Je’Von Evans and he will blaze past Oba Femi to win King of the Ring. Evans then stops Jey and he says he sees Jey looking past him, but he is a big fan. Jey then says he will slap the taste out of Evans’ mouth.
Carmelo Hayes then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Ricky Saints follows.
WWE United States Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Carmelo Hayes vs. “Absolute” Ricky Saints
The match starts off with Ricky Saints going for a cheap shot, but Carmelo Hayes hits him with a springboard clothesline. Saints then goes for old school, but Hayes counters and wipes out Saints. Hayes then heads to the top rope and launches himself, but Saints moves out of harm’s way. Saints then hits an upper cut and he follows it up with a running bulldog. Saints is now back in control. Hayes then hits Saints with a DDT on the apron. Back in the ring, Hayes pounds away at Saints in the corner. Hayes then hits a Snap Suplex for a near fall. Saints then sends Hayes’ throat right into the ropes. Saints then hits Hayes with a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall.
Saints then bites Hayes’ hands. Saints then slams Hayes down and hits him with a knee. Saints then applies a rear chin lock on Hayes in the middle of the ring. Hayes then tries to fight back, but Saints hits him with a back suplex. Hayes then counters Saints’ running bulldog with a back suplex. Saints then runs into a big boot. Hayes then hits Saints with a springboard DDT for another near fall. Hayes then hits a series of right hands. Hayes then sends Saints to the corner. Hayes then goes for Dirty Diana, but Saints counters with a pinning combination. Saints then hits Hayes with Flapjack for a two count. Hayes then denies a Roshambo attempt from Saints and both men are down following a collision.
Hayes then hits Saints with a Dirty Diana and he follows it up with a cutter for a near fall. Hayes then heads to the top rope and launches himself, but Saints moves out of harm’s way. Hayes then goes for a First 48, but Saints catches him mid-air and puts him on the top rope. Saints then trips Hayes up onto the exposed turnbuckle.
