Roman Reigns survived Penta in Mexico City, but the finish didn’t go over nearly as well with everyone watching. Almost immediately after Reigns retained the World Heavyweight Championship, frustrated fans started turning their anger toward WWE and Triple H.
Several fans took to Twitter after the September 14 episode of RAW, with some bringing Andrade’s recent criticism of WWE back into the conversation. Andrade had argued that Mexican talent didn’t receive enough opportunities in WWE compared to Samoan wrestlers, and one fan felt Penta’s loss proved his point.
“@AndradeElIdolo How right you were, in WWE THEY DON’T VALUE MEXICAN TALENT.”
Another fan also invoked Andrade while directing their frustration at Triple H. The reaction went beyond criticism of the booking and included a broader attack on Samoan wrestlers.
“F*** you @TripleH for not giving an opportunity to Mexicans … @AndradeElIdolo was right, f*** the Samoans wrestlers too”
Others were less focused on Andrade and more frustrated that WWE didn’t use the Mexico City crowd to pull the trigger on Penta. One fan believed WWE had the perfect opportunity to elevate him into a bigger star and may not get another chance like it anytime soon.
“That was your guys chance to make penta a star and you guys blew the wide open layup I don’t see penta getting another shot soon and it looks like Roman is holding that belt till mania at minimum Bloodline lore in 2026.”
Another reaction pointed to the results involving Latino wrestlers throughout the show and questioned why WWE went to Mexico without giving the hometown favorites bigger victories.
“Triple H really brought RAW to Mexico just to have the Latino stars take L after L. Maybe Andrade had a point after all.”
Triple H’s philosophy surrounding established stars also became part of the criticism. One fan argued that keeping championships on proven names makes it harder for WWE to create the next group of wrestlers capable of reaching that level.
“Triple H: We have to keep the belt on the same guys coz they are stars and they sell merch. Also triple h: does not allow a new star to win a championship”
The anger came after WWE spent much of the main event making a Penta upset feel possible. With the Mexico City crowd firmly behind him, Penta hit Reigns with the Penta Driver, a Destroyer and several superkicks while repeatedly coming close to taking the championship.
Reigns ultimately stopped one final springboard attempt with a Superman Punch before following with a spear for the victory. He left Mexico City still World Heavyweight Champion, while Penta’s near miss immediately reignited a much bigger debate among fans about how WWE uses its Mexican talent.
One loss doesn’t determine Penta’s ceiling in WWE, but plenty of fans clearly saw September 14 as the night to find out how high he could go. Instead, Roman walked out with the championship, and Triple H was left taking much of the heat online.
