Former WWE star Big Damo has officially landed in MLW, but now he’s revealing why that decision made the most sense for him.

After reports noted that Big Damo signed with Major League Wrestling and aligned with the CONTRA faction, the former WWE star is now opening up about what really drove that decision. Speaking on In The Weeds, Damo made it clear this wasn’t about chasing hype — it was about finding the right fit. He started by addressing the reality that many former WWE talents deal with once they hit free agency, explaining that not every opportunity is as straightforward as it seems.

"Listen, you guys will understand—you probably hear it a million times—it’s very easy to get dangled carrots and things like that when you’re a former WWE superstar. But MLW have been very straightforward. They got in touch, they were very patient—I was recovering from a minor injury—and we were able to work something out very quickly."

For Damo, that level of clarity mattered, especially while he was still working his way back from injury. Instead of rushing him, MLW gave him the time he needed, and that stuck with him. But it wasn’t just about timing. Damo also pointed to the roster itself as a major selling point, saying the talent pool immediately stood out once he took a closer look.

"And yeah, I’m delighted. It’s an incredible roster of talent. My mind was kind of blown when I was looking at it, because so many lads I’ve worked with—some that I’ve trained and some that I’ve wrestled more than anybody else—so it’s been incredible for me. One of my best friends, Donovan Dijak, is there as well."

That familiarity, along with personal connections like Donovan Dijak — helped seal the deal, giving Damo a sense that he was stepping into a locker room where he already belonged. He wrapped it up by making it clear that, at this stage of his career, those details matter more than anything else — especially after more than two decades in the business.

"So it really is ticking all the boxes for me. And like I said, most importantly, they were very patient with my recovery. Little things like that go a long way for me. I’ve been wrestling for 22 years—so to have a stacked roster and a company that’s straightforward is as good as it gets."

Damo is already lined up for multiple MLW dates, but it’s clear this move wasn’t rushed — it was calculated. Between the roster, the patience during his recovery, and the straightforward approach, MLW checked every box he was looking for.
