Jake Hager may have claimed he was done with pro wrestling — but that retirement didn’t last very long since he’s set to return to the business very soon.
The major news came on May 10 when World Wrestling Council announced on Instagram that the former WWE and AEW star will compete during the company’s 53rd Anniversary event on June 27 at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. According to the announcement, Hager will officially return to the “quadrilateros” for the anniversary show after being away from active competition for a long stretch.
"He will make his return to the quadrilateros in the 53rd Anniversary, on Saturday June 27 at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan. Tickets on sale at PRticket.com."
The return is very interesting because Hager previously sounded completely finished with wrestling during an appearance on the Rule Breakers with Saraya podcast back in August 2025.
At the time, Hager openly admitted he considered himself retired from wrestling and explained that he had shifted his attention toward building a trucking company in Tampa, Florida. Hager then explained that he was fully focused on entrepreneurship and building his logistics business instead of continuing life inside the ring.
“I’m getting out of wrestling. I pretty much—I could say I’m retired from it. I started a trucking company and so… running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving—got people driving. But yeah, I’m excited. Something to stick my teeth into. Hard work always pays off.”
Jake Hager has not wrestled since facing Connor Mills at BZW Alcatraz in November 2024, which makes the WWC announcement his first confirmed in-ring appearance in well over a year.
At this point, it’s unclear whether this is simply a one-off return or the beginning of a larger comeback run. But despite previously insisting he was retired, Jake Hager is officially stepping back into the wrestling world once again.
